62 Saint Nicholas’ Havens around Poland provide assistance and respite to the Ukrainian refugee children who have been forced to leave their homes and move to a foreign country. At our Foundation we do our utmost to make sure Poland does not feel like a foreign country to them. Apart from numerous educational and integration activities, the children have the opportunity to visit some of the most beautiful places in this country and live happy moments which we hope will help them forget about the difficult situation they are in.
Children from the Saint Nicholas’ Haven in Krasne had the opportunity to visit one of the most charming and unique places in Poland which unites our two countries – Bieszczady mountains. The trip to the Solina lake was full of relax, laughter and many attractions. The children went on a boat trip around the lake and had the opportunity to sit behind the ship’s steering wheel and navigate it. Under the careful eye of their teachers, the children enjoyed the fresh air and beautiful views.
The Saint Nicholas’Haven in Krasne was created at the initiative of the local women’s association. It offers places to 30 Ukrainian children coming from different places in Ukraine who, thanks to the initiative, formed a well integrated group of friends. The children attend organised activities three times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. The youngest children make use of the play corner which has been refurbished especially to their needs, while older children participate in various activities organised by Ukrainian educators who are employed by the Krasne Haven. These include creative arts and dance classes as well as play board games which the organisers bought for this purpose. Children who live far from the Krasne Haven, can count on transportation provided by the organisers, while moms who bring their children to the activities organised by the Saint Nicholas’ Haven in Krasne are provided snacks during which they can interact with each other, chat and relax.
